Salvete omnes! I'm Robert Z. Cortes, a teacher of PAREF-Southridge School, a private school for boys in Muntinlupa City, Philippines. I teach Latin with a passion, but I teach with passion in general. Presently, I also teach English Language Arts and Religion (the Catholic type) but I've taught almost all subjects here except Filipino. I'm teaching middle and high school students but I've taught all grade levels except Prep and Grade One. So I guess you can say that I've done quite a lot of teaching - I just finished 20 years! I'd probably die teaching; I mean, I'd probably be teaching until I die :) And yes, if you're interested in Opus Dei (probably Southridge, Latin, and Religion added up to that), you can get in touch with me, too, and get the hard facts. You're probably here because you know me and are interested in the things I'm interested in. If you just happen to fall in through serendipity, you're welcome anyway.  | Nah - each school unit chooses its own Teacher of the Year if any teacher qualifies based on his rating and performance :) I was awarded as an Intermediate School teacher. The process begins with the recommendation of one's Department Heads. Each Department Head, if he has a nominee, submits his nominee to the OpCom of the School Unit (Principal and his council) and based on their own assessment, they choose the awardee among all the nominees. Students are not asked to rate teachers so that this doesn't turn into a popularity contest. Of course, their feedback are taken note of as it's hard not to hear good or bad things about their teachers in such a small school. Thanks for the warm congratulations :) |
